ISSEY MIYAKE MEN SS17: ON THE RUNWAY

Yusuke Takahashi entitled his Issey Miyake Men spring-summer 2017 collection « Journey from a white page. » Shown today on the second day of Paris menswear week, the collection and its name hold the keys to multiple inspirations. Mainly inspired by the city of Varanasi, India, and its eclectic styles, Takahashi offers a range of off-white wrinkled silhouettes that open the show on a relaxed note. The fabrics are soft and textured and show an understated side of elegance. Loose-fitting, the pieces feel free while the organic fabrics bear complex wrinkling techniques that enhance their texture. Gradually, color appears in the collection, with dynamic patterns taking inspiration from the Holi festival. All of them are hand-printed. The presentation of the collection was accompanied by a live performance by Kikagaku Moyo presenting original music composed for the occasion, a blend between psych rock, acid folk, and traditional Indian music. They were all wearing white overalls. The Issey Miyake man is ready for a summer placed under the sign of elegance, ease, and travel.
