OPENING CEREMONY FALL WINTER 2016 COLLECTION, NEW YORK

The Opening Ceremony Fall Winter 2016 collection appears even more punchy and playful than previous years. In collaboration with the artist Syd Mead, the creator of some of the most iconic images of Tron, Blade Runner and Star Trek, the collection is colorful and fresh. Indeed, the dresses of the collection are graphic and digitally printed with illustrations from the visual futurist’s archives. The sweaters have innovative prints and textures inspired by cityscapes. Metallic details can be found all over the collection: lamé dresses with retro prints, oversized parkas tightened on waist, mini-skirts worn over leggings or sheer long skirts worn underneath oversized knitwear. Velvet combos in metallic gray and hypnotic red give a touch of underground culture to the ensemble of the collection. As for the rest, long black dresses, in leather or not, and jumpers are paired with crocodile stamped velvet or black patent leather platform boots. Last but not least, zipped details are found in knitwear, mini-skirts and dresses all along the runway. The color palette works around glacier blue, midnight plum and cosmic pink, for a wintery yet colorful result.
