PAUL SMITH MEN S/S 2019

By Crash redaction

No one can do tailoring like Paul Smith and no men’s fashion week would be complete without his version of masculine elegance, that somehow always seems current while maintaining a certain distance from obvious trends and fads. No sneakers to be found here, men are, instead, devilishly smart with loose-fitting costume trousers, checkered double-breasted jackets and newsboy caps. They march down the runway in pimped Chelsea boots and loafers.

Playing with the proportions of his well-known suits, Paul Smith has considerably widened the shoulders of the blazers in an 80s style but with an added lightness coming from the fabrics and the lack of lining. The collection wasn’t all classic, there were fun prints too and glimpses of sportier pieces like a zipped sweater under a costume or a tartan bomber jacket.
