PRADA MODE SHAKES UP THE MAXIM’S IN PARIS

In the middle of the hustle and bustle of Paris men’s Fashion Week, Prada presented the fourth edition of the ‘Prada Mode’ event. Held at the famous Belle Epoque restaurant and nightclub Maxim’s – located on 3, rue Royale in the heart of the city – this travelling social club focuses on contemporary culture and provides members with a unique experience comprising of deep conversations, music and finde dining. An installation was created especially for the event by AI researcher and professor Kate Crawford and artist and researcher Trevor Paglen. Titled « Making Faces », the piece included art projects and architectural modifications around data gathering, surveillance and facial recognition. Some of the talks included « The History of the Face » by Simone Browne, Stephanie Dick, Xiaochang Li and Sarah Myers West, « Artists on Fascism and Faces » by Kate Crawford, Heather Dewey-Hagborg, Trevor Paglen and Hito Steyerl. A dinner was also co-hosted by Vogue Paris and Prada with a menu designed by famous French chef Cyril Lignac. To finish off the evening, there was a live performance by William Basinski and DJ sets by Jonny Seymour, Kim Ann Foxman and more.
