THE NIKE AIR FORCE 1 REIVENTS ITSELF WITH FLYKNIT TECHNOLOGY

The Nike Air Force 1 is a legend. Created 34 years ago, the iconic Nike model originated from the world of basketball and quickly became a symbol of street culture. Nike has always been about thinking forward and looking to the future. In fact, the sportswear behemoth is launching a new version of the Air Force 1 called the Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit. In a constant search for more comfort and the conviction that there are ways to make the shoe lighter, the Nike Sportswear designers, with Design Director Jonathan Johnsongriffin, looked into using Nike’s Flyknit material. It was then a collaboration of footwear engineers, Flyknit programmers, 3D designers and developers who helped create the lightest Air Force 1 in history. The Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit holds on to its legend’s heritage and makes it even more contemporary: the new and improved Nike Air Force 1 features debossed AIR lettering, polyurethane has been replaced by the use of injected unit rubber tooling, and the 52 stars on the rubber sole have been kept intact. Flyknit technology is not only forward-thinking in terms of design, but also when it comes to production. In fact, it allowed Nike to reduce manufacturing waste considerably. By micro-engineering every stitch, the end result is a shoe with maximum comfort, a weight reduced by 50%, and an aesthetic that is undeniably unprecedented. The Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit makes its debut in two tones: the classic all-white Air Force 1 color for NikeLab, and the University Red for Nike Sportswear.
