PROENZA SCHOULER RELEASE THEIR 2024 PRE-FALL COLLECTION
By Chloe Edstein
The collection focuses on accentuating the female form with more structure than seen before. The Anya Jacket pulls in at the waist but with a sharp drop shoulder the female form suddenly becomes unmoveable, a symbol of influence. Again, in the Hadley Jacket, a classic masculine neckline is drawn together and down to wrap around the hips, then complimented with the sharp cuffs of the sleeves. Proenza begins to feminise the masculine form: no longer asking the feminine body to morph into the masculine but for the masculine to mould to the feminine.
The Anita Dress stands alone in cobalt as the other pieces stand around her in neutrals. As always, the intensity of this piece is softened, this time with a sheer viscose knit that sculpts the body. The electricity of this piece is carried throughout the collection by accessories, mainly the Flip Shoulder Bag in rosewood eel. A colour that sparks fun all over the collection. The electricity does not stop at accessories though, as you look closer at the trousers and skirts of the collection, night rises from day with the inclusion of a double waistband.
Proenza closes their collection with the epitome of their voice. The Irene Dress, in black embroidered organza, glimmers underneath the Sandra Sweater, whose weight is complemented by organic lines, and shines through the structured Dina Coat to join its only friend at the party, the Flip Shoulder Bag in rosewood eel.
