REDISCOVER BURC AKYOL, SEMIFINALIST OF THE LVMH PRIZE FOR YOUNG DESIGNERS 2023
By Crash redaction
The fashion giant has selected the 22 finalists for the award. The winner will receive a prize of 300,000 euros and mentorship from LVMH’s sustainability, communications, marketing, legal, production and finance teams. The prize semi finalists will have the opportunity to show their collection at this upcoming Paris Fashion Week on March 2 and 3 to the press and to the prize’s committee of experts who will then vote on eight finalists.
Among the twenty-two finalists is Burc Akyol, already shown by CRASH Magazine within the 93rd issue. The French designer, of Turkish origin, is characterized by a genderless of seductiveness and exactness, two very different concepts, but they fit perfectly into the precise and elegant lines of the brand. Akyol is also keen to point out how each piece is entirely thought out and handmade, developed in his studio in Paris. Every material used is high quality; cashmere yarns, virgin wools and Italian and French fine silk that perfectly adhere to sustainable, eco-conscious ethics so as to respect workers and the environment. Production is defined as made to order, this allows the brand to stay out of and away from the logic of overproduction and waste nowadays increasingly linked to the fashion world.
