Saint Laurent Rive Droite presents a unique collaboration with Gio Ponti Archives and the Fundación Anala y Armando Planchart, at Chiostri Di San Simpliciano in Milan. Curated by Anthony Vaccarello, the exhibition promises to captivate visitors with an extraordinary plate collection at the historic Chiostri di San Simpliciano.

In 1953, in Venezuela, Anala and Armando Planchart commissioned the visionary Italian architect Gio Ponti to construct a groundbreaking villa atop Caracas’ highest hill. Reflecting their modernist aspirations, Ponti envisioned a residence that exuded lightness and grace, adorned with inventive designs, vibrant hues, and commanding vistas, featuring collections of orchids and curated artworks.

For the interior décor of Villa Planchart, Ponti enlisted the expertise of exceptional Italian artisans, including Florentine manufacturer Ginori 1735, where he previously served as artistic director. Ponti meticulously crafted a series of porcelain tableware adorned with symbols and motifs from the villa, showcasing his artistic prowess and meticulous attention to detail, paying homage to the Plancharts with iterations of the letter « A » alongside symbols like the Sun, Crescent Moon, and Polar Star.

In a nod to this rich legacy, Saint Laurent Rive Droite, in collaboration with Ginori 1735, reintroduces 12 original plates from the Villa Planchart Segnaposto collection designed by Gio Ponti in 1957. These exquisitely crafted decorative porcelain plates, hand-painted at Ginori 1735’s Italian Manifattura, epitomize timeless elegance and artistic finesse.

This exhibition promises a journey through the intersection of art, architecture, and timeless design, celebrating the enduring legacy of Gio Ponti’s visionary creations.
