SAINT LAURENT WOMEN’S SUMMER 2021

By Crash

The Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2021 show was a breath of pure air, an invitation to escape and break down the bedroom walls we’ve become a bit too acquainted with. For this collection, it’s quite obvious Vaccarello wanted to concentrate on the core aspects of the Saint Laurent silhouette, emphasizing the legs and bringing powerful shoulders and a 70s plunging neck. Equal parts masculine and feminine, the looks are strong but with a refreshing minimal approach. It’s pieces you want to wear, pieces that make you feel like the best version of yourself. New versions of the mythical Le Smoking appear, as well as an array of sexy off-the-shoulder tight tops paired with biker shorts and a statement 80s belt. Splashes of fantasy and a bit of kitsch spruce up the collection, with feathered hems, fluffy marabout fringes and flowing floral chiffon.

« I wanted to focus on the essence of things. I think it’s a sign of the times. But I didn’t want anything bleak or heavy. The desert, to me, symbolises that yearn for serenity, open space, a slower rhythm. The clothes are also softer, the spirit of the collection is more gentle, stripped back » said Anthony Vaccarello.
