SIMONE ROCHA SS23
By Roisin Breen
Harnessing a feeling.
Fragility, remorse, anger and nature.
A reaction to distress, digging deep and digging the earth
The earth healing with Echinacea, Chamomile, Daisies, Daisy in chains
Summer wool, sequin daisy,
Quilted tulip faille coats.
Bomber satin uniform.
Constructed volume, disrupted proportions, a new proposition.
Unzipping and revealing what is beneath
Pausing, running An urgency.
Those were the show notes that Simone Rocha left for guests alongside her collection show on Sunday 18th September 2022, at The Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, otherwise known affectionately as The Old Bailey, to Brits.
This dramatic setting was the perfect backdrop to Rocha’s dramatic collection, debuting a fully formed menswear collection for the first time, Rocha has joined in the likes of Peter Do and Maisie Wilen, who both revealed menswear collections alongside their womens’ at the shows in New York.
The collection was undoubtedly Rocha – feminine ruffles and shiffons, juxtaposed against utility tailoring. The color palette remained neutral, beiges, khakis, black and white monochrome, but detailed with signature Rocha floral embroidery, in delicate sequins and rhinestones.
