SPORTSWEAR MEETS WORKWEAR AT GmbH

By Crash redaction

For its third collection, the Berlin collective GmbH chose to set the scene at L’Aerosol, a new underground spot in an old warehouse, a celebration of street art and youth culture. With more than 7000 m2 of space, everyone can come and do graffiti, roller skate or just have a drink in a friendly atmosphere. A perfect place for a brand like GmbH, who strives to design for the youth of today and adapt its silhouette to a transitioning generation.

The brand’s signature reworked workwear staples were present in the form of an army green puffer jacket, hard-edged motorcycle gloves, multi-pocketed denim and black rubber shoes. The GmbH man is dressed with comfort but also roughness, symbolic of the Berlin techno scene and industrial landscapes. The designers reconsider clothing which could be viewed as tacky, as seen on the numerous fleece zipped jackets, some made with yokes of vintage sweaters. It seems that item of clothing is no longer reserved to dads or hikers.

PVC pants were the star of the show, in pitch black or lime green with an amazing lightning bolt print that almost had a gift-wrap effect on the model’s legs. Other strong pieces were all the suits cinched at the waist, the tight fitting ribbed polo-neck tops and the silk grey pinstriped pants that caught the light beautifully. Discover our exclusive backstage photos of the show.
