STELLA MCCARTNEY’S PIONEERING SUSTAINABLE FASHION HONORED IN LONDON

By Crash redaction

Stella McCartney has been involved with eco-friendly and cruelty-free fashion ever since she launched her eponymous brand back in 2001. As a vegetarian and self-proclaimed animal lover, she has always strived to make the world of fashion a more sustainable environment. By exclusively using faux fur and faux leather, as well as working in an ethical way, she has helped shape the future of garment design. It seemed natural that she would be the first recipient of the Special Recognition Award for Innovation, delivered by the 2017 Fashion Awards and Swarovski today at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

With this award, McCartney further proves that her company respects nature and is conscious of our planet’s well-being. Fashion and ecology don’t always go hand in hand and it is important to acknowledge those who try to make a difference. At her last fashion show in Paris, she had sent invitations in the form of recyclable trash bags, a powerful message void of any glamour but full of good intentions. The British designer has also recently launched a collaboration with the e-commerce consignment shop The Real Real, as a way to promote secondhand shopping. Using her influence to serve a good cause, Stella McCartney is more than a fashion designer, she is a true visionary.
