THE DOMESTIKATOR HAS FOUND ITS PLACE AT THE CENTRE POMPIDOU

First banned from the Tuileries garden on the occasion of the Paris International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC), Atelier Van Lieshout’s controversial Domestikator has found refuge in the Centre Pompidou which has gladly accepted to expose the artwork on its forecourt.

It had already been exposed at the Bochum Ruhrtriennale without any problem but the sexual nature of the Domestikator was too much to handle for the Louvre museum, which is attached to the Tuileries gardens. It is a victory for freedom of expression in art and comes as unexpected news for a frowned-upon artwork that was bound to stay in Holland. The piece, which represents a vision of modern domestication, asks the question of whether or not constant technology advances and the domestication of our world are a good thing.

The Domestikator of Atelier Van Lieshout will be exposed from the 18th to the 22nd of October at Place Georges-Pompidou.
