THE MCQUEEN SEAL BAG GETS A FW23 REVAMP

By Roisin Breen

Perhaps one of the most influential and controversial designers of his time, the latest and greatest Alexander McQueen shook the fashion world in the late 90’s and early 2000’s with his dramatic depictions of old Scottish heritage, think AW95 Highland Rape, and futuristic otherworldly universes, 2009’s Plato’s Atlantis, notabley the first ever live streamed fashion show.

The house continues to transform fashion and clothing into a revered art form under the ever watchful guise of his right hand, Sarah Burton. Skillfully manipulating patterns and fabrics to distort and challenge our traditional idea of garments and accessories. It is in this sense that the maison’s now iconic Seal Bag was born.

Echoing the form of a tudor rose the bag itself encapsulates this very essence of the McQueen legacy. Imagine a bag that’s more than just an accessory; it’s a statement. Enter the Seal Small bag, tailor-made for the Autumn/Winter season. Crafted with precision from the softest Seal quilted leather, this satchel is pure elegance personified. Boasting an adjustable chain and leather shoulder strap it moves with fluidity and is finished with a precise cut-out metal McQueen Seal closure.

Just like its predecessor, the Seal, this bag revels in the art of curves. Rounded edges, sinuous lines – it’s a symphony of shape and form. It’s the embodiment of McQueen’s fascination with silhouette, a testament to the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries.

Embodying the Seal bag in the FW23 campaign are singer YSEULT, supermodel, Liu Wen, actress, Elle Fanning, singer Joey Yung and model Xi Mengyao.
