THE NEW GO-14: LE MALLETAGE

By Crash redaction

The iconic GO-14 bag, one of designer Nicolas Ghesquière’s earliest creations, (from Ghesquière Octobre 2014, the date of its first catwalk appearance), returns today with a unique and special feature: Le Malletage.
Malletage is a trellis-like upholstery found inside trunks, a clever and brilliant system for keeping documents in place while traveling.

The collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Nicolas Ghesquière once again confirms that the Maison’s intent is uniqueness and quality at its finest. Today’s GO-14 is a seductive bag in pure quilted lambskin, synonymous with elegance and versatility, perfect for different occasions thanks to the different tones in which the bag is presented. Making the GO-14 even more adaptable to any occasion is the jeweled chain that allows the accessory to be worn on the shoulder or over the shoulder and even doubled up, thus holding the bag at elbow height or in the hand. Confirming its sophistication and elegance, the bag features a handle.

The GO-14, a piece derived of the highest craftsmanship value, is a tribute to the deep work and study of the Louis Vuitton maison. The bag requires more than twenty processing steps, with special attention to the patina that creates the satin or toasty finish and the subtlety and fading of color. Le Malletage, on the other hand, which goes to create the effect of roundness, requires a taping technique, in which more or less seventeen meters of material are used to create a single bag.

All the refinement and craftsmanship of the Louis Vuitton atelier are appealed to create the harmony of the GO-14.
