THE PAST REVISITED AT VERSACE PRE-FALL 2019

By Crash

For her first show in the Big Apple, Donatella Versace decided to pay homage to New York by capturing its amazing energy into the pre-fall 2019 collection. Models were clad in iconic Versace baroque prints as well as psychedelic multicolored animal prints clashing in an unexpected way. There was definitely an 80s vibe through the slicked back hair-dos, vibrant party dresses and vinyl mini-skirts paired with cropped mohair sweaters. Silhouettes were fun and care free. The designer remembered the famous « Safety Pin Dress » from the archives of a 1994 Versace collection by bringing it up to date on young Italian model Vittoria Ceretti. A blast from the past that is not unlike what other designers have been doing recently.

Boldness was celebrated in color ways that ranged from luscious hues of bronze, beige, brown and caramel to flashes of acid pink, yellow and green. The city that never sleeps meets the glorious Italian refinement.
