THE PRIX MEURICE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART UNVEILS ITS SIX FINALISTS OF 2016 EDITION
Last 23rd May the Prix Meurice jury reunited to chose the 6 finalists of its 9th edition. Among other eminent personalities, the jury is represented by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, director of Fondation d’entreprise Ricard Colette Barbier, FIAC director Jennifer Flay, Jeu de Paume director Marta Gilli, and Jean de Loisy, Director of Palais de Tokyo. The six shortlisted finalists and their galleries are : Katinka Bock represented by Galerie Jocelyn Wolff who will work on a project about giving and compensation, Julien Discrit represented by Galerie Anne-Sarah Bénichou who will present a film project about Montreal, Lola Gonzalez who will showcase a collaboration with the Japanese dancer and choreographer Naoyuki Oguri, Angelica Mesiti represented by Galerie Allen who will present her « Final Cut » immersive multimedia installation, Moussa Sarr represented by VNH Gallery who will present a video installation exploring the artist’s origins from Senegal, and finally Thu Van Tran represented by Galerie Meessem de Clercq, presenting the « Pétropolis Players » – a mix of sculpture, text and film. The winner, who is yet to be unveiled on October 10th, 2016, will receive ta grant of 10,000 euros to develop his or her project and 10,000 euros for his gallery to organize the in situ exhibition. An exhibition with the works of the six finalists will be running at Meurice from October 10th to October 23th 2016.
