UGG PRESENTS ITS FIRST EXHIBITION WITH ARTIST JAMES BANTONE AT MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2024
By Crash redaction
James Bantone is a Swiss visual artist based in Paris. His artistic vision encompasses an exploration of the strange and a disturbing look at the obsession with identity , employing photography, sculpture, and video. Through a multidisciplinary approach, Bantone navigates the realms of space and emptiness with a persistent quest to escape displacement, consequences or fear.
The installation deconstructs and distorts the boundaries between indoor and outdoor, creating a visual pattern that incorporates copies of the original itself, and creating an endless loop of discovery and introspection.
Upon entering the exhibition space, visitors encounter sculptures reminiscent of urban advertising structures commonly found on city streets. These sculptures, dubbed « street advertisement ghosts, » showcase different Bantone’s visual creations for Ugg.
Ugg x James Bantone’s installation invites viewers to reflect on the literal sense of self-reflection and the modern-day blur between reality and illusion. Continuously drawing one’s gaze in and out of the depicted scene, the installation captivates with its dynamic interplay of perception and reality.
