CHANEL MÉTIERS D’ART 2015-16: THE FINALE

For the new Chanel Métiers d’Art 2015-16 collection called « Paris in Rome », Karl Lagerfeld took inspiration from French actresses and Italian cinema. Choosing the legendary Cinecittà Studios in Rome, known for having sourced many iconic Italian films, was an evidence. Guests were first invited to discover Karl Lagerfeld latest short film Once and Forever, starring Kristen Stewart and Geraldine Chaplin, projected onto a giant screen in the Piscina, one of the most important film studios at Cinecittà. In the Teatro N°5, Karl Lagerfeld put together a black and white Paris of yesteryear and recreated the life of the Parisian streets. The models walked the catwalk to the piano sound of artist Christophe Chassolone. The collection silhouettes combine tones of a late Roman autumn with the emblematic colors of Chanel. The iconic suit was trimmed with a « galon pellicule », as a trompe-l’oeil dress or as a three-piece version with jacket, straight skirt and cigarette trousers. Dresses in tweed, cut on the knee, and mini skirts were warmed with small capes. Motifs recalling Roman marble were painted over some garments. Lace negligees embroidered with tulle, sheath dresses in pleated velvet also made their appearance, representing the Parisian elegance and the Italian glamour. Chanel ambassadresses Kristen Stewart, Anna Mouglalis and Zhou Xun attended the event.
