VIVIENNE WESTWOOD, THE REAL ACTIVIST OF THE WORLD OF FASHION

By Crash redaction

‘Bye Less Choose Well, Make it Last’ is the theme of the latest Vivienne Westwood’s fashion show held in London on June 12th at the Seymour Leisure Center.

Indeed, for her collection spring-summer 2018, the British designer already famous for her activism is upsetting the world of fashion by accusing the irresponsibility of human, facing the degradation of nature.

She uses recycled materials like the plastic bottle that she transforms into sandals.

« This is to say that we are against the plastic, because plastic in the ocean is probably the biggest polluter of the world »

Her show features dancers, acrobats and the circus world. They take poses where their bodies are deformed as if to push the human being to transform himself. The geometric shapes and the bright colors become bearers of meaning: that of the symbolization of playing cards.

The heart embodies love, tile greed, clover war and pikes pollution. The prints are purified and the fluid materials embrace the bodies: the gender doesn’t exist anymore.

Vivienne Westwood is indignant at the fate of this nature that humans don’t respects: She inscribes « MOTHERFUCKER » on t-shirts to denounce each individual as being a murderer.

The show was presented two days after the election of Jeremy Corbyn, a politician at the head of the Labor Party, who won the British general election. Vivienne Westwood supports him a lot.

This catwalk show is not just a show, but an artistic expression of militancy.
