BACKSTAGE AT YOHJI YAMAMOTO MEN FALL-WINTER 2015-16 PARIS
By Crash redaction
Yohji Yamamoto masters the art to deconstruct in order to rebuild. For his fall-winter 2015 collection, the designer played with the juxtaposition of layers on jackets, using sometimes different fabrics and contrasting colors like grey, red and different shades of blue against the dominant black. Appearing on the runway with bruises and scars on their faces, the models were walking on the enigmatic sound of a piano playing both high and deep notes which created a very unearthly atmosphere. It may have seemed that the collection had something of the apocalypse but as the show went on, the colors kept getting lighter in order to welcome entirely white outfits at the end. It may be Yamamoto’s message of hope. It is undoubtedly a great demonstration of his talents of craftsman and storyteller.
